The Story of Sabre
Hi I'm Matt, a watch enthusiast from the North East of England. For a long time it was always a dream to build watches since I first learned of mechanical watches nearly ten years ago when I got a Seiko 5 Pepsi. Since then, I have always been fascinated by how mechanical watches work, how to assemble them and all the other technical things.
It all started around four years ago when I began to build Seiko mods, but I wanted to do something different with little idea of where to start. It was earlier this year when my grandfather showed me a USSR Sekonda pocket watch my great-grandfather had purchased while he was touring with the Navy during the War. This, coupled with my childhood spent growing up in a town that used to be an aerodrome surrounded by an industrial area, decided it for me. The first watch was to be a military-style watch that had enough ruggedness to represent the industry of Middlesbrough.
Sabre is my horological nod of appreciation to 20th century, its deep history, and industrial heritage of North East.
The brand is just me, whenever you get in touch you'll be talking to the owner. I'll be handling everything from assembly, movement regulation, shipping and customer care. I'm always happy to talk watches.
